What enthusiasm, energy and excitement 4-year-olds exude! If we could bottle some of it for ourselves, we actually could be the superheroes our children already think we are - we won't tell if you won't!
With pre-kindergarteners possessing such eagerness and ability to learn, we very carefully selected a curriculum that combines exciting teacher-directed instruction with stimulating child-centered explorations. It fosters children's cognitive, social and emotional development by emphasizing skills such as reading, language, math, science, social studies, music, technology, fine/gross motor skills, and personal and social development all in a hands-on, interactive and enjoyable way. Our reading program, Houghton Mifflin, gives young learners the critical skills and experiences they need to form a solid reading learning foundation. Houghton Mifflin provides a wealth of leveled literature, songs, poems, lively alphabet characters, and letter, word, & picture cards to help develop phonetic skills and reading readiness. Our math program, entitled Everyday Mathematics, is a comprehensive, hands-on math curriculum developed by the University of Chicago School Math Project. It is based on the key factors that students acquire knowledge and skills, and develop an understanding of mathematics from their own experiences. Math is more meaningful when it is rooted in real life contexts and situations, and when children are given the opportunity to become actively involved in learning.
Aside from engaging in an exciting, comprehensive curriculum, children will also have plenty of center exploration time and opportunities to just 'hang out' with friends - both indoors and outdoors. Music and movement activities are integrated throughout the day, as well as art and dramatic play activities.
Our goal at Primary Prep Academy is to offer developmentally appropriate learning activities that will instill in children a joy of learning, positive self-esteem and a desire to reach their fullest potential. We are looking forward to partnering with you in achieving this goal.
